Growing up in country Victoria, Australia, Zoy trained as a professional sprinter; competing internationally and winning 10 events on the Victorian Athletic League circuit.

He moved to Melbourne to pursue a career in performance, graduating with a BA in Music Theatre from the Victorian College of the Arts.  Whilst studying, he made his professional opera debut as Jimmy in the world premiere of Deborah Cheetham’s Indigenous Opera Pecan Summer (SBO).  On graduation Zoy was cast as Halloran in the world premier of An Officer and a Gentleman (GFO) understudying the roles of Zack and Guiterrez.  He originated the role of Michael McKeeg in Margaret Fulton - Queen of the Dessert (Present Tense).   He made his Sydney Opera House debut in South Pacific (OA/GFO). He followed with a highly acclaimed performance as Dr Fine/Dr Madden in Next to Normal (Doorstep Arts). From 2014-2016 he toured nationally in the 25th anniversary of Les Misérables (Cameron MacIntosh/Michael Cassel) playing the role of Feuilly and understudying the roles of Jean Valjean and Enjolras.  Following Les Misérables he Co-Directed and starred in Dogfight (Doorstep Arts) as Boland, My Fair Lady (OA/GFO). Taxithi II MetanastesPalawa Voice in the ground breaking opera Tasmanian Requiem (Gap in the Fence) about the Tasmanian Black Wars, Evita (OA/GFO) , Aneas in Aeneas (Melbourne Recital Centre) and in the iconic role of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Prod co/Really Useful Group), Pierre in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (Darlinghurst Theatre Company), Gordon in The Visitors (VIC Opera)Colour & Light (Watch This), and John McFarlin in The Drovers Wife

He was awarded the international 2019 American Australian Rising Star Award, presented in NYC among fellow honourees Simon Baker and Elle McPherson.

 

He has also performed in many acclaimed events including Karijini Experience - Opera in the Gorge, The Dreaming Festival, DFAT Naidoc Week, The Melbourne Recital Centre’s Song for Naidoc and the ABC Indigenous Staff awards

TV credits include  Amazing Grace (Channel 9) and Celeste Barber's  Wellmania on Netflix.

He has also run indigenous performances workshops including directing the Naidoc Week concert Our Language Live on Stage

 

He has created and toured, Variations, Sun Rise - The Story of the King of Rock 'n' Roll and Dear Santa, performing at venues such as Hamer Hall, Bunjil Place and GPAC.

Zoy is currently writing and developing a new Australian Musical and his first EP.
